  The residents of the region, that enjoys this open space, have to give thanks to the earthquake fault and the soils composition that discouraged housing development in this area. A person I know of, from a civil engineering firm, told me his company did some freasibility studies, back in the late 1950's and early 60's, for John Francis Neylan that owned this land back then. The studies concluded that this land WAS NOT feasible for residential development. The location of the San Andreas fault, the undulating terrain, and the soils compositions, made for a poor combination to install a utilities infrastructure, drainage, roads, and to build houses on. Scary to think that Windy Hill Open Space preserve was considered for housing development when Neylan owned the land many years ago.
