Despite being a dilapidated eyesore and source of illegal parking, this community centre provides a place for meetings and dances in our neighborhood. Do we really need it? Perhaps not. But we welcome non-religious and non-government public spaces in the neighborhood. Here’s hoping that it stays a public space and out of the hands of greedy developers who, after all, would build a gaudy and vulgar monstrosity that we could all be ashamed of.
