Hudero is an important brackish water wetland of Sindh where variety of waterfowl prefers to take refuge. Here, one can see storks, Cranes, flocks of Pelicans and occasional Swans. It is considered to be one of the favorite lakes of ornithologists. It has been declared as a Wildlife sanctuary to conserve natural resources and protect environment in and around the lake for various migratory and resident birds.
Hudero Lake was declared as Wildlife sanctuary in 1977. Situated 85 Kms in the northeast of Karachi, Lake Hudero with the surface area of 1321 hectares (5 Sq. miles) is a natural depression in rocky area of dry arid zone. Owing to it's rich potential to serve as a habitat for large variety of birds, it has ultimately got the status of a sanctuary.
