Well preserved fort showing foundations of villas, barrack blocks, grain stores, commander's quarters and a hospital. It is next to the dramatic section of the wall that goes west from the fort. West is Best from here.

  • the views from Housesteads are incredible, so it's clear why the Romans chose this particular site to construct such a large fort. well worth the visit when the weather's good.
