MS Stadium (Municipal Corporation Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Kozhikode, India. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 53,000 people and was built in 1977. It is equipped with floodlights for conducting both football and cricket matchs. It was reconstructed and reopened in February 2005 by hosting the home matches of SBT in the national football league. It was recognised as the best football pitch in India by the experts and the media. It was the home ground of Viva Kerala FC in the I-league. It also hosted the veterans India - Pakistan cricket match in which legends like Ijaz Ahmed, Syed Kirmani and others played. This stadium holds a unique record of the maximum turnup for a national football league in recent history. This stadium is famous for the football crazy fans of Kozhikode. Famous sissors cup finals, super cup finals, santhosh trophy, nagji trophy were held in this stadium. It also hosted many cultural events held at Kozhikode like malabar mahotsavam. It is also hosting the inaugural performance of world tour of A. R. Rahman, the Academy Award winning musician. Now the stadium is improved by floodlight.

    i think so this stadium should host international cricket matches its wonderful to watch a match in this stadium... the corporation of calicut should really take this matter seriously and try to promote cricket in calicut.....

    I am having a request that why the government of Kerala is not taking any actions to improve the ems stadium calicut to a international football stadiums..if it so means india can have a wonderful stadium with max seating capacity.hope calicut stadium will be raised to international level and conduct international matches
