USA / New Hampshire / Wolfeboro / Clark Road

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney's 11.74-acre estate, at the end of Clark Point in Wolfeboro, NH, has more than 760 feet of frontage on Lake Winnipesaukee. There is a 5,400-square-foot, six-bedroom mansion, a 2,700-square-foot boathouse, and a 2,600-square-foot stable. The value of the property has been assessed at more than $10 million.

In 2003 Romney's neighbors complained publicly about a security zone 250 feet offshore which prevented boating or fishing near the governor's residence. Anyone attempting to boat or fish near the vacation home was confronted by Massachusetts state troopers, causing considerable annoyance among locals and longtime property owners. In a letter to the Granite State News, one woman who reported being hassled while kayaking near the residence asked, "Why should a governor from another state, or anyone else for that matter, be allowed to appropriate part of a lake that belongs to all the citizens of the State of New Hampshire?"
