As an act of revenge for the assassination of Reichsprotektor Reinhard Heydrich on May 27, 1942, this Central Bohemian village was burned to the ground on June 10, 1942. All 192 adult men were shot that day. The women were sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp. Seven children were selected to be "Aryanized", the other 81 were gassed at Chełmno death camp.
