Almost 11,000 acre wildlife management area administered by the state of Texas. The area is also home to a 4,300-acre parcel known as Catfish Creek, which is noted as being one of the few remaining undisturbed riparian habitats in the western Gulf Coastal Plain. This portion of the management area is designated a National Natural Landmark.
