Cottonwood Slough is a shallow lake. This lake, along with some 6,424 surrounding acres of land make up a National Natural Landmark known as Cottonwood Slough/Dry Run. The area is a glaciated finger outlet of the world's largest Pleistocene glacial lake. The overall site contains a completely undisturbed wetland complex including potholes, streams, shallow open water, lakes, and marsh.
