kakdwip fishing point actually a place where the machanised fishing vessels have been parking in an un-organised system for loading,unloading and repairing and shelter.
This place have a long demand for moderanised fishing harhour to facilitated fishing activities and at the same time to organised the fish trade.
The fisheries department, Government of West Bengal constructed the modern fishing harhour which added by the 50% grand of India Government and rest State Share. The Minister in Charge Mr, Kiranmoy Nanda took his usual efford for the successful complition.
The Braith Burn Construction Ltd. (A Government of India Undertaken. Kolkata. India)was the contractor for the project.
The Consultant of the project is G.Banerjee & Associates, an Architect Firm , have experienced for fishing harbour projects in West Bengal.Goutam Banerjee, Principal Architect, is the key man for the project planning & designing.
The project consist of RCC Jetty constructed of 650 mm thich diaphragrm wall. this concept applied to provide a contunity of land portion upto jetty and this also first time introduced in West Bengal Probaply First time in India.
Other ancillary facitities like fresh water Supply and distribution system, Electricity and immergency power sypply from generator, road and parking net work, Public toilet, communication centre, work shop, gear shed, netmending shed, guard house and fencing the entire place for protection.
The place is not only impressive and needfull to the fishermen but also it will be an usualtourist place. A Tourist complex adjacent to this fishing harbour also designed by the Architect, Goutam Banerjee,for the pleasure to tourist and for their enjoyment of staying by the side of the beautifull harbour and to loss themselve within the beauty of the river at various time of the day/night.
