This is where the GN would interchange with the NP Central Washington Branch. The route north to Coulee city was called the Adrian Cutt off. It was completed in 1903 and the last train went over it in 1953. It was officially abandoned in 1979. I guess they were holding out hope there would be a need to connect Soap Lake and Coulee city. It might not look like much now, but a good portion of the materials to construct Grand Coulee Dam traversed this little-known rail line.
The southern portion of this line connected this area with Wheeler outside Moses Lake. Sugar beets from the Quincy area would be shipped to the Utah and Idaho sugar plant in Wheeler.
