Former U.S. Air Force Air Defense Command BOMARC missile site. The site formerly housed 56 supersonic, radar-guided, nuclear-tipped BOMARC missiles deployed to shoot down Soviet bombers during the Cold War. The site was closed during 1972. Today, it is used by Suffolk County as an archives and police training facility.
