Gedangan Catholic church (St.Joseph kerk), one of the oldest church in Semarang, Mid-Java, built in 1875. with gothic, Dutch style with extensive use of red brickstones directly brought from the Netherland. the beautiful art-glass windows were also brought from the Netherland, from a damage church (what church, i don't know). the original floor tiles with fantastic pattern came from Maastricht, unfortunately removed in 2000 major renovation. too bad we dont have good understanding, and the passion to preserve our historic buildings, do we? |
