Or Knostrop Sawage Treatment Works. The initial facility appeared over 140 years ago. Since that time, the area occupied by the treatment facility has periodically expanded as the needs grew, until 2010-11, when the area was reduced by about half after the decommissioning of old sediment ponds and tanks - perhaps the efficiency of newer facilities increased (also, shortly before that, a new group of final setting tanks was built), and/or it was influenced by some other reasons (including the expansion of the Esholt STW).

In 2016-19 a new plant for anaerobic digestion of sludge was built on parts of the closed sedimentation ponds, which will be able to process up to 94% of all sludge from the Leeds' wastewater treatment and will replace a plant for incineration of the sludge, built in the early 90s.
