Harbanspura Village (Old Town)

A village with more than 100 years of history. Started as a settlement on the northern bank of a canal for peasants of Raja Harbans Singh. The village was surrounded by lush green farms and large fruit orchards. The farms and orchards have been turned into slums and semi-planned extenstions of the original Harbanspura village. The last orchard vanished in 1975.

There used to be an annual URS and fair during the rainy season with a notable activity of Kabaddi match between local team and another team from an adjoining village. With the disappearance of farms, the URS is no longer celebrated.

The village had its own railway station that was in active service till the late 80's. The village also had its own post office, located in the nearby garrison areas.
