  • it's just cool !!!!
  • Fort Drum (El Fraile Island), also known as the “concrete battleship,” is a heavily fortified island fortress situated at the mouth of Manila Bay in the Philippines, due south of Corregidor Island. learn more through this website: www.concretebattleship.org
  • The reason it became known as the "concrete battleship" is because the fort was armed with two turrets with two 14 inch guns for each of the turrets. It was used by American and Filipino forces to support the other friendly units in Bataan and Corregidor. It was surrendered to the Japanese the same day that Corregidor was. The Japanese also used Fort Drum in their defence of Manila Bay against the American forces in their efforts to retake Manila Bay. Having such thick walls, the Americans had to get in close and use explosives to finish off the Japanese defenders within the fort.
  • wow nice info ..
  • I wonder if they can reclaim the surroundings of Fort Drum and transform it into a business district similar with Odaiba, Japan, that area was also a fort. I think constructing a district near the fort drum can also make it more accessible, just my idea.
