Thiruvanvandoor is famous for its natural beauty and temple. The retreival of an old "vigraha" of lord "gosala krishna" from a lake made this village very famous. Every year we have a festival which has a variety of musical and art forms like Kathakali, Bharathnatyam, Carnatic music (vocal & instrumental)etc. And on the last day there is a gathering of around 50 elephants (much less nowadays), organised together for a programme called the "gajamela". Other than that Thiruvanvandoor is a silent village away from the heat and noise of the city, calm and quiet. With rich paddy and cane fields and two different rivers flowing on opposite sides of the landscape. The temple usually remains busy in the sabarimala season. There are also a few churches located nearby the temple. All over it is a very nice locality situated equidistant from Thiruvalla and Chengannur alike.
