Canyon Creek

dsk3 Yeah, what the heck does that mean?

What an original name for such a controversial stream of water!

In the 1970s and 1980s, a coalition of utility companies wanted to dam the stream to build a hydroelectric plant. Environmentalists squawked about the loss of a pristine canyon. By the time someone pointed out that the "pristine" walls of Canyon Creek Canyon, (is that a redundancy?), had already been scoured with hydraulic cannons in the 1870s, the utility companies had lost interest.

In recent years, environmentalists waited until after a new placer mine began operating near the road on the south wall of the canyon to start squawking about the loss of a pristine canyon. By the time someone pointed out once again that the "pristine" canyon walls had already been scoured with hydraulic cannons in the 1870s, the environmentalists had lost interest.
