Construction of the Texarkana Mill began in 1969. as part of International Paper's effort to increase its capacity to produce coated bleached board and liquid packaging board. The construction took three years to complete. The mill received an upgrade during the late 1970's that made it the world's largest bleached board mill. Texarkana Mill provides bleached board paper board to four major markets: folding carton, cupstock, liquid packaging and food service board. Each day the Texarkana Mill produces about 1,700 tons of products during the 24-hour non-stop operation which are shipped across the United States and to 53 nations around the world, with a third of the mill's product lines shipped to Canada, Europe, the Far East, Australia, the Caribbean and South America. Texarkana Mill employees approximately 1,000 people and is one of the area's largest employers.
