Tambora National Park is a national park located in West Nusa Tenggara Province. This National Park is administratively included in Dompu Regency and Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.
The designation of the Tambora NP area was carried out by Minister of Environment and Forestry Decree 111 / MenLHK-II / 2015 April 7, 2015. The national park was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on April 11, 2015, to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the eruption of Mount Tambora on April 11 1815.
The status of the area before becoming a National Park consists of a Nature Reserve covering an area of 23,840.81 hectares, a Wildlife Reserve area of 21,674.68 hectares, and a Buru Park covering an area of 26,130.25 hectares.
Mount Tambora conservation area has tremendous biodiversity potential. Vegetation that grows there consists of 106 species of trees, 18 species of epiphytes, 6 types of herbs, 39 species of lianas, and 49 species of shrubs.
Mount Tambora conservation area is a habitat for various species of animals including mammals (Timor deer), reptiles (monitor lizards, tree lizards, pythons), primates (macaques) and aves. There are 8 protected bird species, 1 species of which is an endangered perioritas species and two species of NTB endemic birds.
The potential of Mount Tambora's natural attractions presents a panoramic beauty from lowland forests to mountain forests. Various flora and fauna can be found which will add to the experience and is a sensation for tourists.
