Edakkara village township popularly known as "Edakkara-Angadi" (older generation still cherish it as Edakkar-'TB') is the last major "City-Centre" in that part of the Kerala State boardering to Tamil Nadu - Nligiri hills. The Edakkara-town is situated about half-way of the Calicut-Ooty road. The Township is brisk with commmercial activities and shoppers from far- flung areas of Nilambur scott to Edakkara-town for shopping as the town-ship boasts of bargain prices. The town-ship currently accommodates 3 petrol-pumps (gas statons), one bank (Canara bank) 2 cinema theaters (Kalasagar & Lazer moovie-talkies). It has a high-school, a police station and a state owned bus terminal.
