Mount Union is in Alliance, Ohio (population 25,000). The College is located 70 miles from Cleveland and 80 miles from Pittsburgh.

Mount Union College enrolls 2,300 undergraduates; approximately 52 percent women and 48 percent men, representing more than 26 states and 12 countries.

Eighty percent of the faculty at Mount Union have earned a doctoral or terminal degree with graduate training at some of the best-known universities in the United States and Europe.

Mount Union's student-faculty ratio is 14:1. The average class size is 19. Classes are offered fall and spring semesters with a summer semester consisting of three sessions.

Mount Union has an active alumni base of more than 13,000 graduates located around the world.

The current endowment of the College is $121 million, placing the College in the top 10 percent nationally in endowment size.

The College's Annual Fund is strongly supported and brings more than $1 million.

Mount Union sponsors 11 men's varsity teams: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis and Wrestling.

Mount Union's nickname is the Purple Raiders with the MUCaw, a purple parrot, as mascot. With school colors of purple and white, Mount Union competes in the Ohio Athletic Conference and in NCAA Division III athletics.

More than a dozen music performance groups are open to student participation. Major groups include the Marching Band, Concert Choir, Symphony Orchestra, Mount Union Alliance Chorale, Brass Choir, Jazz Band and several ensembles.

Nearly 70 percent of all students live on campus. A full range of social events are scheduled throughout the academic year, including dances, plays and films, art exhibits, lectures and other cultural and entertainment activities. The array of active campus organizations includes a student senate, newspaper, yearbook, literary magazine and FM radio station; four national fraternities, four national sororities and one local sorority; and various intramural sports. Dozens of other groups are devoted to academic, social and service pursuits.

Dr. Richard F. Giese, the 11th president of Mount Union, is a native of Chicago, Illinois. Giese earned his bachelor of arts degree from Concordia College in 1971. He holds three advanced degrees including a master of divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in Exile (Seminex), a master of arts degree from Washington University and a doctoral degree from Kent State University. He also has attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Seminar for New Presidents.

Dr. Patricia Draves is the dean of Mount Union College. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College. She earned her doctoral degree from the University of Illinois.

Lee Ann Thorn, chair of the Board of Trustees, is the executive vice president and treasurer of GBS Corp. in North Canton, Ohio. She is a 1983 graduate of the College.
