A temple city housing the biggest Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha. Sri Rangam is an Island surrounded by River Kaveri and Colleron on both sides. The temple has a very tall and majestic Raja Gopuram (Arch) which is 257 Feet tall. The gopuram is beautifuly decorated with statues of various forms of gods and depicting various life existances within the Hindu religion. Sri Rangam is believed as Heaven on Earth for the Sri Vaishnava followers. The temple complex is well planned and constructed to exactly depict the Sri Vaikuntam(Heaven). The sanctum Sanctorium adornes Lord Ranganatha in his Anantha Sayanam(Lying posture in Deep meditation). Every year during the month of December and January "Vaikunta Ekadesi" festival is celebrated and close to million people from all over the world will come and seek the blessings of the lord.
