City park created in 1869, named after Daniel Lownsdale, an early pioneer. Spanish-American War memorial in the center of the park.

The Plaza Blocks (Lownsdale & Chapman Squares) were originally supposed to be gender-segregated. Lownsdale was the Plaza Block for men only. (No fun guy stuff here, though, so don't get your hopes up.)
