Sirupazverkadu Village -CReNIEO DST Model Village Programme - 1999 -2001

CReNIEO has implemented development programmes in Sirupazverkadu Village strating in 1999, under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) Government of India. The programmes were : de-silting the village pond(see Pic) to bring more areas under cultivation and to harvest second crop, and for families, poultry farming, training in better agriculture practices, horticulture, avenue trees and fodder development, drinking water health care, training women and forming them into self help groups, tailoring and driving training for youth. Presently CReNIEO is implementing a programme of the Department of Bio Technology , Government of India , the objective is to gradually improve the genetic constituency of local breeds of cattle owned by Dalit women through, supply of better cattle suited to local conditions, starter feeds, establishing a artificial insemination unit at the village and a trained veterinary assistant at the village.
