1988 as Foxcatcher Farm
Originally the estate comprised of over 800 acres purchased by the Father of Jean Lister Austin du Pont as a wedding gift.
Jean was married to Willliam du Pont Jr. and later divorced, they had four children with the youngest, John E. du Pont as heir to the estate. William du Pont Sr. also gifted a mansion that was a replica of Montpelier.
The estate was an operating farm and thoroughbred training facility as well.
1988, Jean Lister passed away, leaving the farm to John du Pont who renamed it to Foxcatcher Farm which was developed into training facilities for wrestling, swimming, track, and other pans/triathlete sports.
1996 John du Pont murdered gold medalist Dave Schultz on the estate, John was found guilty but also mentally ill. John passed away in 2010. Rouse properties purchase the estate and asset at auction and later sold it to Toll Brothers for a new housing development with homes/manors ranging from $600k to $1.1 million on the remaining 400 acres. All the buildings on the farm with the exception of Lister Barn have been demolished. Lister barn was refurbished as a common clubhouse for the community.
