lighthouse, foghorn, Art Deco (architecture), 1940_construction
The current lighthouse, automated in 1972, replaced an earlier lighthouse built in 1874 and designed by Paul J. Pelz, who also designed the lighthouses at Point Fermin and Mare Island. Its fourth-order Fresnel lens was used from 1899 until 2013, when it was moved to the first floor for easier viewing by visitors.
