Karshi Khanabad Airbase Uzbekistan
Also known as "K2" or "Camp Stronghold Freedom"... this air base is one where the American Forces launched their operations into Afghanistan from.
The American/Coalition Forces left K2 in the Fall of 2005 at the request of the Uzbek government.
The majority of the airbase is controlled by the Uzbek military and the American part of the base was limited to a moderately sized "compound" surrounded by a high dirt berm at the west end of the base.
