Fort Edgecomb State Historic Site

This Second System fortification was built as part of the project of 1807 and consisted of a small enclosed battery with six heavy guns, covered by an octagonal blockhouse. The work was to be moderized under the Third System.

As of 1851, it was intended to be armed with twelve 24-pounder guns, for a total of 12 guns.
