Croagh Patrick (Cruach Phádraig - 762m)

Croagh Patrick (Cruach Phádraig - 762m)

Mountain in south-western County Mayo. The chapel at the summit is visited annually by pilgrims, the ascent being made bare foot by some. Following the discovery of economic quantities of gold in the area, there was considerable controversy on possible mining activities at this holy site. However, no mining licenses were granted and are unlikely to be awarded for the foreseeable future.

The Holy Reek, climbed in July each year by pilgrims. A must-do for sturdy tourists in the area. Beautiful view if the weather is good.
