321-foot, 29-story Modernist cooperative-apartment building completed in 1977. Designed by Philip Birnbaum & Associates, it is distinguished by its odd shape. Rather than have its northern side come to a point like the famous Flatiron Building on 23rd Street, it is bent inwards towards the south to create a small, angular plaza. Across the plaza is a small, 1-story commercial building (originally a bank) at 70th Street that is included as part of the complex.
The tower is clad in dark-brown brick, set back on the east, south, and west sides above a 1-story base that is lined with storefronts on Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue. The main entrance is on the inward-angled north side, facing the small plaza and bank building. It is framed in limestone and has a revolving door. The upper floors have grey concrete floor plates wrapping all the way around the building. Above the entrance there are three bays of single-windows. The east elevation on Broadway has, from the north end, a bay of double-windows joined by grey metal panels to a bay of tripartite windows, three bays of tripartite windows, another bay of tripartite bays joined by metal panels to a bay of double-windows, and two bays of single-windows near the south end. All the windows have grey metal framing, and there are black metal air-conditioning vents below all the bays except those with single-windows.
The south facade has two inner bays of tripartite windows and two outer bays of double-windows, and a set-back western section with a bay of single-windows. The west-facing elevation at the south end has another bay of single-windows, followed by an angled, notched corner section that has a bay of double-windows and one with tripartite windows, somewhat set back from the main west facade along Amsterdam Avenue. This facade has (from south to north) a bay of double-windows joined by a metal panel to a bay of tripartite windows, a double-window bay, a tripartite window bay, and a bay of tripartite windows joined by a metal panel to a double-window bay.
The building contains 264 apartments. The ground floor is occupied by J's Cleaners & Laundry, Gourmet Square Mini Market & Deli, and a CityMD Lincoln Center urgent care clinic.
