Fidel has a fetish for Baseball fields and track and field facilities and required that they be built for all of his troops. This layout and formation is typical of "Fidel's Folly" as it is known in the intelligence community. If you see a similar configuration elsewhere in Cuba you can rest assured they you are looking at a military facility.

  • Hey, the troops need to stay in shape somehow. Why is it folly to build a ball field so they can play some sports? From the looks of it, it's probably 0.001% the cost of the base it is part of. Methinks you're being overly snide.
  • It's a folly because this set of facilities is at a 'secret' airbase. Thus, his requirement that the baseball & track fields be built, gave up the secret that this was a government military installation!!
