  • The photo is not correct. It's actually from the counterpart, the Chernobyl-II antenna.
  • AA_Wiki is right: the last picture is the Duga-2 transmitter, not the receiver. The receiver was just a building full of sensors, it didn't need an antenna. Don't ask me why, I'm not a radar technician. I do know those cages surrounding every opening in the building are not a security measure, though: that's a Faraday cage and surely had something to do with getting better reception or canceling out external interference.

  • This was a part of over-the-horizon Duga-1 radar system. Receiving antennas are still located near Chernobyl. On this site transmitting antennas was located. I lived in Slavutych city and saw these antennas till they was disassembled in 2000s.
