Short Sand Beach

Legendary surfing beach. Shortest drive from Portland to respectable surfing. A bit of a hike from parking to beach. There's also a hike-in campground--part of Oswald West State Park. Camp sites are usually booked far in advance.

The headlands to the north and south focus waves nicely toward the beach.

Local users have infrequently encountered sharks while surfing. Cell phone service may be spotty. Manzanita is five miles to the south for services.
