A low-to-middle-income neighbourhood.

Formerly known as Eastview, this predominantly francophone area became an independent city in 1963 and in 1969 it was renamed Vanier, in honour of Georges Vanier, a French-Canadian Governor General of Canada. It was amalgamated into the City of Ottawa on Jan. 01, 2001.
