The fourteen story, 42,000 sq. ft., Renaissance Revival former showroom for the piano and organ manufacturer was constructed in 1926. Designed by architect, Robert Finn, the building features a terra cotta face with granite piers and trim. Wurlitzer remained until the 1970's selling organs, pianos, jukeboxes and instruments, after which the property became the home of a number of tenants.

In 1982, the building became vacant, when maintenance issues forced the last tenants to leave. The current owner acquired the property in 1995, but has failed to undertake repairs despite several enforcement orders issued by the City of Detroit.
