A new cocktail bar is bringing life back into a Short North building that has sat unused for over two years.

The Rivington is expected to open in early 2025 at 584 N. High St., formerly Bar 23, which closed in 2022. Founded by Matthew Silva and brothers Corey and Kyle Jenkins, The Rivington will feature cocktails, food and live music.

“The Rivington should be a space that makes people feel really good and that’s going to be reflected in the entertainment, the cocktail choices, the kitchen choices, and the design of the overall space as well,” Corey said.

They’re actively working with a Columbus-based chef on the menu, which will consist of 12 to 14 Italian forward dishes that range from small snacks to larger plates with proteins.

For Matthew and the Jenkins brothers, The Rivington will be their first Columbus establishment, but it certainly isn’t their first experience in the hospitality and dining industry. Matthew is a former partner of the Sauce Restaurant and Pizzerias in New York City. In addition, Kyle specializes in new restaurant development.

Corey and Kyle are from the area. Corey moved to New York at the age of 18 for college before moving back to Columbus in 2020 with his husband Matthew.

“Obviously Kyle and I both grew up here and I lived here over 18 years and then moved away and traveled and worked and did a lot of stuff, but at the end of the day, coming back to Columbus always felt like coming back to home,” Corey said.

Kyle said the three are invested in Columbus and what it has to offer.
