Built in 1922, the Coliseum has hosted two Olympics (1932 and 1984) and is home to the University of Southern California Trojans football team. It has also been the home of the UCLA Bruins, Dodgers baseball team (while their stadium was being constructed), LA Raiders and Rams of the NFL, the LA Dons, the LA Express of the USFL, and the LA Extreme of the XFL. The most ever attending a game were 104,953 in 1947 to see USC vs. Notre Dame. The stadium used to have a track, but it was removed in the mid-1990s and seats were added in their place. The total capacity for American football is now 92,000. It is owned by a public commission of the City of Los Angeles.

The Coliseum is currently the home stadium for the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams moved back to Los Angeles in 2016 after 20 years in St. Louis. The team will move into City of Champions stadium in 2019.
