The Art Deco, Senate Theater was designed by architect Christian Brandt and constructed in 1926. With a seating capacity of 1,200, the movie theater operated until 1958. In 1963 it became the home of the Detroit Theater Organ Society which later installed the theater organ from the historic Fisher Theater and reduced the number of seats to 900. In 2012, the theater was renovated and reopened in 2013 with the ability to show movies again.
