Courson Island

From Buckaloons Recreation Area south to the town of Tionesta, seven islands in the Allegheny River including this one were designated the Allegheny Island Wilderness by Congress in 1984. Courson Island covers 62 acres, and can be viewed from above at the Tidioute Overlook.
Leave No Trace camping is essential on these islands because of the impacts litter and improperly disposed waste can have on this important river system.
