  • valikandapuram is ths important city in the chola kingdom. valikandapuram links with ramayana,king Vali worshipped the god siva here attain many powers,thus the god siva in the temple is known as valieswarar and godess is known as valaambigai.valikandapuram is the main city for commerce during chola kingdom,the temple is built by chola before the construction tanjore siva temple populary kown as periya kovil.the temple construction is completed by various kings from various kindom like pandiyas,kirishna deva raya,the fort nearby valikandapuram is build by raja ranjan singh, which leter fell to arcot nawab,the village is still known as ranjankudi kottai.sri prasanna venkatachalapathy temple is build by krishna devaraya.this place is very important for britisher to establish their rule here.they fought a battle with french army to caputuer trichirapalli. the battle is known as volkonda war which is not popularly mentioned in the indian history.the grave of a english girls is found in the place just 200 mts from siva temple.
