Mahananda wildlife Sanctuary has a total notified area of 158.04 sq.kms.It was constituted in 1976 by curving out a part of reserve forest of Kurseong Division. A part of Baikunthapur division subsequently included in 1987.

I've definite proof that tigers are there along the gulma khola upstream,ghoramara & along chuplong areas.I've lot of pug marks of the big cat.In deorali area and some part of jogijhora-latpanchar route I found the distinctive pug marks. They should take care.
