My Grandfather, Edward Ralph Syfert, and his parents, Esther Pitman Syfert and James Leroy Syfert, are buried here. Edward Syfert drowned in Klamath Lake during a fishing trip in 1929. According to newspaper accounts my grandfather was a strong swimmer and it was believed he drowned while attempting to save the other man in the boat. Both men died. My father was only nine years old at the time and the only child of Edward and Rose Syfert. My father's mother was divorcing his father at the time of his death, so my father never knew the relatives on his father's side of the family until he was in his forties.

  • Linkville Cemetery has a large section where only children are buried. It occupies a strip along the eastern side of the property. I have uploaded a few photos above, one of them a child's grave with teddy bear. Nothing is more moving than seeing a child's grave, most of which date to the 19th and early 20th Centuries.
