  • Stalin period apartment building that was recently renovated. Known as the House of the Architect - so called because it was designed my Aleksei Shchusev, who was one of Russia and the Soviet Union's most versatile architects. Before the 1917 Revolution, he designed a number of well-known churches, the Kazan Railway Station and later he is most famous for his design of the Lenin Mausoleum, the Moskva Hotel outside Red Square, Narkomzem, the Agriculture Ministry on Lubyanka Square and the Komsomolskaya Metro Station. This building is sometimes called Dom Arkhitectora because the Museum of Architecture, which Shchusev helped establish is named for him.

Здание является частью нереализованного проекта парадного ансамбля Смоленской и Ростовской набережных, задуманного Щусевым. Боковые крылья, облицованные бежевым кирпичом, достроены в начале 1960-х.
