USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / Eighth Avenue, 585

388-foot, 35-story postmodern hotel completed in 2015. Designed by Gene Kaufman, it has a small, 3-story wing extending out to 39th Street. The main facade on the avenue is clad in red brick, four bays wide, and set far back from the sidewalk with a courtyard in front. The 33-foot high side walls of the front courtyard are faced in beige rough-parged brick with climbing ivy; low, decorative landscaping runs along both walls. The ground floor has glass infill between the two outer brick piers, with a silver metal canopy above the entrance. Above, each bay has a double-window in grey metal framing, with vents at the bottom. Above the 3rd floor the two inner bays are separated by a white brick pier, as opposed to the red brick on the rest of the facade. The tower is topped by a glass crown. The hotel contains 271 guest rooms.
