Menachem Daniel Club (Baghdad City)

Iraq / Bagdad / Baghdad / Baghdad City
 stadium, sports club

I don't know its exact use to-day (camp for Gypsies?), but it was used as an Army sports club since the early seventies when the Government took it over as there was only a few hundreds Jews left in Iraq. Officially, I think the property still belongs to the Jewish Community.
The sports club was for 3 decades the social centre for young Iraqi jews where boys and girls could congregate together without the gaze of their parents. It boasted a large stadium plus basket and volley ball areas as well as tennis courts, changing rooms and a food stall. We had a great time there and those of us in London talk nostalgically of the place. i will post some photos taken in the fifties.
I believe that many Iraqi ex-soldiers also look back with nostalgia to this place. I would love to see some photos in the eighties and nineties.
