This historic home was originally built in 1925 by a New York businessman, R. Clifford Black. It was likely designed by the New York firm of Hart & Shape. It was sold in 1947 to R.P.W. Fung for $100,000, this was the highest price paid for a residential property at that time. The formal living room has quarter sewn oak floors, custom concrete beams, three window seats to enjoy the gardens, and two walk-outs to the covered patio and backyard. The walls have been upholstered with high quality fabric and the entrance features the original carved wood doors. Beautifully created backyard folly is a replica of war torn European architecture. The exterior is as magnificent as the interior. The estate garden designs were based on the original plans. These gardens are documented in the Smithsonian Institute.

The residence bears a striking resemblance to the estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post in Brookville, New York. Her estate "HIllwood" was designed by the firm of Hart & Shape around the same time period in the Tudor style. Comparison photos are provided.
