The Painesville Depot was opened in 1893 , under the Lake Shore Line. The entire building cost was $18,075.00. The style of the building is Richardsonian Romanesque and the Architect was Shepley, Rutan and Collidge from Boston Massachusetts.

The Western Reserve Railroad Association is attempting to raise funds for the purpose of saving and restoring the Painesville Depot. The plan is to make the depot a museum for the railroads and interurbans of Lake County.
