A lowland between Parnidis and Grand dunes. Death Valley is related to 1870–1871 Franco-Prussian war. Some historical sources tell that after the war Germans established here barracks for French captives. The French were used as a labour force to plant and strengthen the dunes. Due to severe conditions prisoners frequently died and were burried in the sand.
