Bridge 62, Grote Brouwerssluis, is a short beam bridge spanning the north-western end of the Leliegracht.
Historically, the Brouwerssluis, along with its larger neighbour, the Leliesluis, played an important role in regulating the water levels between the Jordaan and the city’s central canal network. The two sets of floodgates were removed in the 19th century,² but traces of the lock can still be seen in the brick piers either side of the water.
